New journal uses illustrations to communicate science

Lay summaries are not the only way to make science more accessible…

A new journal calledĀ theĀ Journal of Sketching Science (JSS) plans to communicate scientific findings using illustrations. The journal founders have previously run a successful blog using the same concept, which has attracted many followers on different social media platforms.

The journal is designed to mimic elements of conventional science journals while also adopting more innovative science communication approaches. The aim is to communicate complex and important scientific topics to the public in a way that is visually attractive, yet rigorous.

Though the journal will not be restricted to medicine, or drug trial findings, we do look forward to ‘seeing’ (literally) what comes out of this journal in future.
